2
And the Book that makes things clear
3
We have sent it down during a blessed night: Verily, We (always) wish to warn (against evil)
4
In that (night) is set out (decreed) every item of wisdom,
5
By Command from Us (Allah), verily, We (always) send (revelations),
6
As a Mercy from your Lord: Verily, He is the All Hearing (As-Sami'), the All Knowing (Al-Aleem);
7
The Lord of the heavens and the earth, and all that is between them, if you have firm faith and certainty.
8
There is no god but He: It is He Who gives life and causes death, your Lord and Sustainer (Rab) and the Lord and Sustainer of your (earliest) ancestors.
9
Yet, they amuse themselves in doubt.
10
Then you watch for the Day on which the sky will bring out a kind of clearly visible smoke (or mist),
11
Surrounding the people: This will be a painful penalty.
12
(They will say:) "Our Lord! Remove the penalty from us, really, we are believers!"
13
How shall the Message be (meaningful) for them, seeing that a Messenger (the Prophet) has (already) come to them (And is) explaining things clearly,
14
Yet they turned away from him and said: "Taught (by others), he is a madman (possessed by evil)!"
15
Indeed, We shall remove the penalty for a while, (but) truly, you will go back (to your ways).
16
One day We shall get to you with a mighty disaster that will come: (And then) We will truly make (you) suffer the real punishment.
17
And indeed, We did try the people of Firon (Pharaoh), before them (those who reject the Message); To them came a most honorable messenger (Musa),
18
(Saying:) "Give me the servants of Allah verily, I am to you a messenger worthy of all trust:
19
And do not be proud (especially) against Allah: Truly, I have come to you with clear authority.
20
As for me, I have prayed to my Lord and your Lord, for safety against your injuring (stoning) me.
21
But if you do not believe, keep yourselves away from me and leave me alone.
22
(But they were angry and haughty) then he cried to his Lord: "Truly, these are a criminal people used to sin."
23
(The reply came:) "March forth with My servants by night, surely, you will be followed.
24
And leave the sea at the gap (across the ocean bed divided): Verily, they are a group to be drowned.
25
How many of the gardens and springs did they leave behind.
26
And green crops (and corn fields) and noble places,
27
And wealth (and things of life), in which they had taken such delight!
28
Like this (was their end)! And We made other people take over (those things they left behind)!
29
And neither heaven nor earth shed a tear for them: And they were not given any relief (again).
30
And indeed, (before this), We did save the Children of Israel from disgraceful punishment,
